Over the past few weeks I’ve been exploring five innovation models that organizations can implement. However all of these are part of one innovation ecosystem that organizations must create if they want to be able to stay relevant and compete in this rapidly changing world we are seeing. The best ideas and the smartest people can be anywhere which means opening up the doors to innovation from anyone. Many of you might be familiar with the concept of open innovation but for innovation to truly be open it must allow for all five innovation models below which are: […]
This is going to be a five part post that explores various types of organizational structures that either already exist in today’s business landscape or are starting to emerge as viable options for the future of work. Each post will explore one of these structures and then I’ll provide a final summary post on all five. These concepts and ideas are taken from my book, The Future of Work: Attract New Talent, Build Better Leaders, and Create a Competitive Organization. The five types of organizational structures that I will explore are: […]
The idea of thinking of employees as capital assets is antiquated but for many, it’s not enough to simply talk about how HR is changing and what the new role of HR is. Companies are dropping the term “human resources” altogether and are shifting towards more “people centric” terms. […]
This episode of The Future in 5 is about staying relevant as the world of work changes. I share three tips that we can all do to ensure we stay relevant and current even as the world of work continues to change at a rapid pace. […]
What is the future of work? This is a very big, interesting, complex, yet simple question. It is probably the single, biggest question I get asked the most. In this episode of The Future in 5, I give my view on what is the future of work. […]
In this episode of The Future in 5, I talk about a really cool report in which PwC creates three scenarios for what the future of the world is going to look like based on three different types of worlds — the blue world, the green world and the orange world. I take a look at these worlds created in the report, share which world I would put my “chips” on and why, and other questions it raises. Which world do you think is going to be most pervasive and which world do you want to live in? As always, I’m curious to hear what you think. So, tune in and leave a comment!

There is also this discussion about work/life integration because we are starting to bring more of our lives with us to work and more of our work home to our lives. My perspective is it doesn’t really matter. In this episode I share why I believe that instead of focusing on work/life balance or work/life integration, organizations need to focus on giving employees the opportunity to customize and control how they get their jobs done instead of telling them how they should be working. Listen in and tell me where you stand on this subject!
In this episode of the Future in 5, I discuss what is the biggest barrier to change for organizations? In other words, why are some organizations not changing? When we think about the future, we think about Millennials, collaboration technologies, flexible work programs, or any of the many leadership and management models and approaches. The strategies are there. The tactics are there. The examples are there. The research is there. But, where organizations struggle is not not having enough information to be able to make these changes. […]
Today on the Future in 5, I talk the importance for organizations to really think about what can be done can do to help attract and retain more top talent, especially women. […]
