The current COVID-19 epidemic we are all experiencing is forcing organizations around the world to challenge their conventional ideas around work. In this article, I specifically want to take a look at how the “employee” is evolving.
With the current pandemic that we are all experiencing it’s never been more important for organizations around the world to focus on employee experience. This was Linkedin’s top talent trend for 2020 and that was BEFORE the pandemic even started.
There’s a lot of talk in organizations about how often you should measure employee engagement. Is it best to do it every six months? Every year? Every two years?
Where did this concept of employee experience come from and why is it at the forefront of so many discussions today? We didn’t get here overnight, as with anything in the business world things evolve and shift over time. The evolution we are seeing today continues to shift organizational priorities more towards focusing on people and bringing humanity and experiences into our organizations.

I was speaking with a makeup artist recently and we had a conversation about companies like Facebook and Google that offer many extravagant perks to their employees. She mentioned that she thinks employees at places like this are just being conned into never wanting to leave the office and basically becoming a slave to their job.
