It’s no secret that travel is nothing new, people have been writing about travel for quite some time now and I wanted to share some of my favorite travel quotes with all of you. I love reading and hearing about other people’s travel experiences and every now and then you come across that perfect sentence that depicts what it’s like to travel. These are some of those sentences, enjoy!
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
~ St. Augustine
“Travel has a way of stretching the mind. The stretch comes not from travel’s immediate rewards the inevitable myriad new sights smells and sounds but with experiencing firsthand how others do differently what we believed to be the right and only way.”
~Ralph Crawshaw
“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”
~ Henry Miller
“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.”
~ Cesare Pavese
“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.”
~ Miriam Beard
“The traveler sees what he sees. The tourist sees what he has come to see.”
~G.K. Chesterton
“If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay home.”
~James Michener
“Half the fun of the travel is the esthetic of lostness.”
~Ray Bradbury
“Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white.”
~Mark Jenkins
“A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.”
~Lao Tzu
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.”
~Marcel Proust
