Join the FOW Community “Future of Work Tweet Chat” Every Thursday at 4pm PST!

The FOW Community (future of work community) has grown quite a bit over the past few months and we now have around 40 companies from around the world. These companies come together to explore various topics such as millennials, collaboration, freelancers, workplace flexibility, mobility, and much more. We have had some amazing discussions in our community (and at our events), but we want to open up some of these discussions. So, we decided to have open “tweet chats” every Thursday at 4pm PST where we will engage members of our community and anyone who wants to join!

Can you remember your first “real” job? I don’t mean the one where you worked at a grocery, a movie theater, or a telemarketing agency (I worked at all three). I mean your first job out of college where you had to write cover letters, interview, and negotiate a salary. I remember mine vividlu. After graduating college with honors and a dual B.A. in business management and economics from UC Santa Cruz, I ended up working at a technology company in downtown L.A. I was still living at home with my parents but was very excited to land my first job.

Today on the Future in 5, I talk about experimenting. A lot of organizations are trying to figure out what the future of work is going to look like. I’m often asked what steps they should take — what they should be thinking about. Ultimately, I think in this business environment where things are changing so quickly, the best way to mitigate that uncertainty is to run experiments. We need to start treating our organizations more like labs where we can experiment and less like factories where everything is formulaic and based on a template.
