The way that we work has changed drastically over the past few decades. If you were to walk into an office several decades ago you would probably see everyone dressed up in suits and ties. You might see people smoking inside the office. And most likely you would see that a majority of people show up at 9am and leave at 5pm leaving their work life at the office to go home for their personal life.

You would probably see people working in cubicles with basic technology. And if you sat in on a job interview you would hear the person representing the company asking all of the questions, making sure that the perspective employee is the right fit for the position.

Nowadays if you were to walk into that same company office you would probably see people dressed more casually, you definitely would not see anyone smoking inside, and most likely you would see people coming in and going out at different times throughout the day. You would see that instead of having separate work lives and personal lives, employees now have work/life integration.

You would also see that interviews have drastically changed and the roles have switched. Now the perspective employee is asking most of the questions–what is it like to work here? Will I have a sense of purpose? Will I have access to the best tools and resources? Your organization now has to convince people they should work for you.

Is your organization keeping up with the times? What are you doing to convince people why they should work for you?
