For many decades climbing the corporate ladder has been the only way to succeed and move up in our careers. We had to pay our dues inside of the organization and then perhaps someday one of the leaders would take notice and move us up one step.

But today we have the ability to build our own ladder. This is great news because that means we don’t have to just sit around and wait to be noticed anymore!

How do you build your own ladder? You can learn new skills through online courses and videos, you can build our personal brand through social media, you can have open and meaningful conversations with your leaders now that organizations are less hierarchical and more collaborative. We have never before had such easy access to tools and resources to learn anything that we want than we do today.
