Technology is advancing at such a rapid pace, and is not going to slow down anytime soon. We hear a lot of conversations about how to stay relevant, how to keep our jobs and how to be more human in an increasingly automated world. One way we can differentiate ourselves from technology is our ability to actively listen instead of passively hearing.

There is a big difference between simply hearing something and truly listening to something. Listening is a conscious act that requires time, attention and concentration. Listening allows us to be better team members, better leaders, and better individual contributors.

Are you hearing or are you listening? If you are only hearing, now is the time to start truly listening. And if you are already listening, find ways to improve that skill.
