If TechCrunch Disappeared Would You Miss It?

I’ll be honest, I am not a big techcrunch reader (or mashable for that matter), I find that I really don’t need to know about every new startup that comes to live and what it does, I just don’t care.  If I ever want to know about a new startup I go to the web 2.0 directory and check it out myself.  I think we can all agree that there are new startups emerging every day, do we really need to know about all of them?

So my question to you is, would you miss techcrunch and why?  What information do you get from techcrunch that you can’t get anywhere else?  Why do you read techcrunch?

  1. I don't think I would miss it. I like to hear about new startups and such, but I enjoy the more insiders view provided by Y Combinator's Hacker News.

  3. Honestly, I am beginning to get pretty fed up with TechCrunch. It seems like a geeky version of a good 'ole boy network. My company has been #1 on their Pitches section for months and they have yet to write about us. Why have the section at all?

As you say, I don't need to know about every startup and certainly not ones where there is zero innovation. So I agree…farewell TechCrunch.
