There’s no doubt about it, the world of work is changing. It is changing at a pace far faster than it ever has. In this video I discuss 3 areas in today’s workplace that look quite different now then they did in the past. They are:

● Technology/connectivity
● Power to employees
● Human organizations/leaders

Technology is at the forefront of a lot of conversations in organizations today. Whether organizations choose to implement AI and automation, wearable devices, data and analytics, etc…technology plays a huge role in how we get work done. It affects how we work, where we work, and when we work. There are also a lot of new roles within companies that have been brought about because of technology, such as Chief Analytics Officer, Chief Data Officer, Chief Information Security Officer and many others.

There has been a bit of a shift in power inside of our organizations. The power used to sit with the managers and senior leadership. Employees really didn’t have a say. Management gave orders and the employees would carry them out. But now there is a shift towards a balance in power and now the employees have much more of a voice.

We are also seeing a move towards more human organizations and leadership. In the past companies were run like factories, they were very process centric, and jobs that were meant for robots were given to humans. Now we are using technology to augment humans so that humans can stop doing the mundane jobs and start thriving in areas that they are passionate about.

These 3 areas are shaping the way that we work, which is why a lot of organizations today are investing so heavily in employee experience, leadership training, and up-to-date tools and resources.

What is your organization doing to advance in these 3 areas shaping the future of work?
