I’m so glad to finally announce that The Collaborative Organization is now available for purchase on Amazon or wherever books are sold.  The book is the first comprehensive strategy guide to emergent collaboration within the enterprise and I really hope it proves to be a valuable resource for every reader as well as a stepping stone for the enterprise collaboration space.  I’m also very honored to have Don Tapscott (afterword), Gil Yehuda (foreword), and Andrew McAfee (bonus Q&A chapter) as contributors.

I wrote the book for two reasons, the first is that I believe collaboration can make the world a better place and wanted to create a strategy resource which can help leaders transform this idea into an action.  The second is that I felt there was a huge gap in terms of education and resources around enterprise collaboration.  Leaders are wanting resources and are asking questions that nobody is really answering.

The book covers a lot of things that leaders need to know about enterprise collaboration such as::

  • mapping use cases to feature requirements
  • evaluating vendors
  • structuring collaboration teams
  • evaluating and mitigating risks
  • getting employee adoption
  • roll-out of a strategy and platform
  • measures of success
  • sustaining success
  • and much more

It’s a full 300+ pages with plenty of examples, case studies, data, and guest contributions from many people who are actually running collaboration at companies around the world.

I tried VERY hard to create a vendor agnostic collaboration strategy book for business leaders and therefore wanted the endorsements to come from business leaders.  I am INCREDIBLY HONORED AND HUMBLED to have some of these truly amazing people endorsing the book, here is what some of these people had to say:

Vivek Kundra, Former Chief Information Officer of the USA

In today’s global economy, collaboration is key to building a connected, engaged, and sustainable organization. Jacob’s book guides leaders on how to develop strategies to build this type of ‘Collaborative Organization.’

Ed Coleman, Chairman and CEO of Unisys Corporation

Jacob Morgan’s book is a valuable strategic guide for organizations looking to tap the power of new social and collaborative tools to create more connected, engaged, and successful organizations.

Jonathan Becher, CMO of SAP

Everyone knows that the future of work is engaged employees who collaborate to get things done but struggle to figure out how to get there. Jacob’s book is a valuable strategic guide to help leaders deploy emerging collaboration technologies and strategies to “get there.”

Erik Brynjolfsson, Director of MIT Center for Digital Business and co-author, Race Against the Machine and Wired for Innovation of Chair of the MIT Sloan Management Review

“Most business leaders understand how critical collaborative tools are to the success of their companies. What they need now is a guide, based on hard data and practical experiences, that shows how to put those tools to work. Jacob Morgan fills that need with this book.”

Karen Quintos, Senior VP and Chief Marketing Officer of Dell

Jacob’s book gets to the very real issues that companies of all sizes, in all industries continue to face. Social and collaborative tools are certainly part of the picture, but Jacob’s book goes beyond this to look at true enterprise-wide collaboration that is inextricably tied to business strategy.

Denis Edwards, Senior Vice President, Global Chief Information Officer of ManpowerGroup

“…Jacob’s book provides an excellent strategy guide for other companies that recognize the power of collaboration in the workplace.”

The book is about collaboration and its creation was truly a collaborative effort between McGraw Hill, many chapter guest contributors, my fantastic designer, all of the people who endorsed the book, to whose who are telling their friends about it, and the dozens of people who provided me with introductions, ideas, and support.  Thank you thank you thank you!

To read more about the book you can visit The Collaborative Organization book website or visit the Amazon page to get a copy.

There’s also going to be a special book launch party (which I will have a separate post about) for 200 people on the 26th of July in San Francisco with food, drinks, and free copies of the book to those who attend!
